Social Link – Pub in Soweto

Since the current century began South Africa has seen her landscape change a lot and this includes the emerging of pubs in the Township. This page is dedicated to all the good & the bad spots in the hood!

First one is Social Link in Emndeni SowetoCnr Emndeni Link & R558 ,now that I wrote this down i think the street name influenced the name of this pub.

Social LinkWe went here last week Sunday with a couple of friends for our monthly “Stokvel”. The place has ample parking ,they have a carwash as well. Inside is a spacious area which houses the Butchery/Shop where you order you plate of food there’s a stage in the middle…& I’ve never been here & actually seen it used…the bar is situated after the stage on the right overlooking the main sitting area. Their decor is impressive for a joint like this but beware the best spots are taken very quick. We ordered food which is pap & braaied meat [Boerewors & Steak] and it was lovely except that we weren’t offered Serviettes/Wipes for our hands afterwards. Nonetheless the atmosphere & the music was lovely and what i like is this place caters for a matured audience.

  1. Hi Sihle

Thanks will appreciate it if you do pass on the message , feedback is cricially for a business to grow

    I won’t stop supporting townships pubs 🙂

    Great blog, very informative

  2. I wanted to book the place for an event spoke to Tshepi who assured me ; she will call me to arrange and secure my booking. She never contacted me, her phone was just ringing. She never returned my calls or message which is rude and unprofessional ; This is not how business is conducted. Even the owners phone was on voicemail the entire day, never returned by calls.

I am very disappointed, I wanted to support black owned business , but there have failed me.

My advise to owners of Social Link ; Hire a PA, someone who will handle all the queries, and have a landline and email address. take customer service very serious. Otherwise your business won’t grow bigger than what it is.

    1. Hi Tumi, sorry about what happened! But unfortunately I don’t work for Social Link I’m just an individual who’s reviewing these places on my blog.
I will pass the message to the management at Social Link, it is indeed disappointing though!
Hopefully this won’t put you off supporting pubs in the townships!
